The Badges Behind the Shield
The gentleman in the white and yellow vest is with the Chicago Railroad Police. On either side of him are two of our Pleasant Hill Policemen. The railroad police carry a lot of power protecting their 32,000-mile outdoor factory. They coordinate security efforts with the Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Coast guard, FBI, CIA, Dept. of Homeland Security, and Transportation Security Administration.

What has an upright stance, strong legs, is intelligent, has zygodactyl feet, is multi-colored, and can talk and sing? If you guessed a parrot you get the gold star. A couple weeks ago Ron and Jennifer Gillespie of Lee’s Summit, who own ‘Chico’ a beautiful blue and gold macaw, had a bird-day party for the 31-year old bird. Chico is young for his age, as they live 70 years or longer. You may see Ron and his amigo Chico driving in his truck - swaying to music.
