Planning the Future of Pleasant Hill

A Comprehensive Plan public update meeting will be happening in the first month of 2022. A comprehensive plan is defined as a long-range guide intended to direct the growth and development of a community. Every 20 years, the City of Pleasant Hill updates the Comprehensive Plan which allows the leaders and community to see where we are now and where we would like to go in the future.

UTV Parade Just Keeps Growing

The evening of Saturday, December 4th saw an uptick in participation in the festivities at the Mayors Tree Lighting in Pleasant Hill. The night started out with children visiting Santa at city hall. The town gathered to watch local dancers and choirs sing on the stage by the Gazebo. The Mayor then ceremonially turned the lights on downtown.

Pleasant Hill Man Sentenced to Two Life Sentences

Nicholas M. Webb, 61, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for second-degree murder according to a news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor's office.

Webb stabbed and killed Cody Harter, a member of the Missouri Air National Guard, and from St. Joseph on May 5th, 2018 on northbound Missouri 291 Highway and Interstate 435 in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were tipped off a few days later and led to Webb. Webb was arrested by Lee's Summit detectives on November 9, 2018, at a Pleasant Hill residence according to court documents.

Webb told the police that he’d exchanged words with a person driving a trick and acknowledged getting out of his vehicle. He also stated that Harter looked familiar.

Christmas Celebrations Start Gearing Up in Pleasant Hill

On Monday afternoon, city communications and community event specialist, Stephanie Ray, was at the Gazebo downtown Pleasant Hill helping deck the downtown for the Mayor’s Lighting Festival and UTV Parade.
