Welcome to the first of many articles that will be featuring the historic buildings in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Mark Alford Visits the Pleasant Hill Gazebo


On Tuesday, November 16th at 2 p.m., Mark Alford visited downtown Pleasant Hill at the Gazebo to spread the word about his candidacy for the District 4 Congressional seat. There were about 50 people that came and shared what issues they cared about the most and shook Alford’s hand.

Smashing Hedge Apples and the City Lake


On the way to the City Lake, on the last curve before the straight shot into the park, there is something going on. Death-defying squirrels stay in the middle of the road until the very last second before you run them over them. I have no explanation for these behaviors.

VFW Celebrates Veterans Day


At the Pleasant Hill annual Veterans Day ceremony, on Saturday, November 11, at the Veterans of Freedom Memorial Downtown, this year's guest speaker was Walt Disney, U.S. Navy Seal. Opening and closing prayer was delivered by VFW #3118 Post Commander Jon Mooneyham. The National Anthem was performed by Cass County Sheriff's Department deputy Rick Lewis. The VFW Post #3118 Color Guard rendered a three-round volley followed by the playing of taps. Afterward, the Post Auxillary invited everyone to the Memorial Building for a potato & chili bar and a display of some art.



Man Shot at Lee's Summit Sonic


On Saturday evening, a 51-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man was shot and killed at a Sonic restaurant. According to Lee's Summit Police, Officers found Randall Lord dead about 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the restaurant in the 3700 block of NE Ralph Powell Road. Police interviewed witnesses and no suspect description or any other information has been released.
