The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that Pleasant Hill resident Michael Hamilton 67, fell out of a 1981 Monark boat shortly after 11 a.m.  Bystanders attempted to rescue the Pleasant Hill man and pulled him from Pleasant Hill lake but Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was not wearing a life jacket.

Mayor John King said in an official statement today, "Yesterday, I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of a man's life at the City Lake.  I join with all residents of Pleasant Hi in expressing our profound sense of loss and our sincere sympathy to Michael Hamiltons' family.  The loss of life affects so many within a family-oriented community like Pleasant Hill, but I know the people of Pleasant Hill will be there to support the family and one another in this time of grief."

Severe winter weather is expected to take aim at much of the Midwest starting Tuesday and lasting a few days, so emergency management professionals are urging residents and business owners to be ready for everything from snow to icy roads and possible power outages.

Attention Residents: The City has been informed that Union Pacific Railroad will be closing a few of their crossings in town to replace railroad ties. The crossing at Walker Rd. location will be closed Sunday, January 30th. The crossings at Commercial St. and Wyoming St. will be closed on Monday, January 31st, or Tuesday, February 1st. They will not be closed at the same time. If there is a change in the dates of these closings, the City will let the residents know. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

According to the Pleasant Hill Police Department, the roads in Pleasant Hill are slick in spots and outside the city, there are numerous crashes and slide-offs. Please be cautious.
