Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and do not use their cell phones in work zones. In 2020, 27 people were killed in work zone crashes in Missouri. Between 2016 and 2020, 3,757 people were injured in Missouri work zone crashes. Since 2000, 19 MoDOT employees have been killed in the line of duty, 13 of them taking place in work zones.
